JKSSB Class IV Selection Process

Selection is based on a written test plus additional points under J&K rules. The written test is objective (MCQ), set in English only, with ¼ negative marking for every wrong answer. The weight of the written test depends on your cadre:

CadreWritten testAdditional criteria
UT Cadre85 marks15 marks
Divisional Cadre80 marks20 marks
District Cadre75 marks25 marks

The additional marks come from factors such as home division or district, no family member in government service, women in specified categories (widows, divorced, judicially separated, orphan girls) and casual workers with five or more years of service. Shortlisted candidates then go through document verification with original documents.

Why this matters: with 20 to 25 marks coming from non-exam criteria in some cadres, the cadre you choose can affect your final merit. Read the notification before you select.
