Why this topic scores
- It is the most-asked J&K topic of recent years. JKPSC, JKSSB, Police and UPSC papers repeatedly ask: date, seats, number of UTs, LG powers, what is excluded from the Assembly, the first LGs.
- It is fact-heavy but patterned. The same 25 to 30 facts repeat. Tables in these notes give you those facts in one place.
- It joins three subjects. Polity (Articles 3, 239A, 370), History (accession, Article 370 story) and Current Affairs (statehood, Ladakh talks, elections).
- It is easy to mix up. The Act, the two Presidential Orders and the Parliament resolution all happened within five days, and exams love to test which is which.
