ODOP: The Idea and the Schemes
One District One Product (ODOP) picks one product from each district to be branded, processed and sold in a bigger market. The idea is to use local skill and raw material, create jobs and avoid migration for work.
Two ODOP lists you must not mix
| List | Run by | Focus | J&K count |
|---|---|---|---|
| DPIIT / Invest India ODOP (carried out through the J&K Trade Promotion Organisation, JKTPO) | Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade | Farm, craft and export products | 21 products from 20 districts |
| PMFME ODOP (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) | Ministry of Food Processing Industries | Food processing only | One food product for each of 20 districts; Ladakh: sea buckthorn and apricot |
| District Export Hub (DEH) | DGFT / Commerce Department | Export products by district | 50 products (Economic Survey) |
- The Economic Survey 2025-26 says 21 ODOP and 50 DEH products are notified across the 20 districts of J&K. In 2024-25 ODOP festivals were held for Lavender (Doda) and Basmati (Jammu).
- PMFME started in 2020 under Atmanirbhar Bharat; across India it covers 726 districts with about 137 unique products.
- Kathua has two DPIIT ODOP products (Basohli Painting and Basohli Pashmina), which is why the total is 21 for 20 districts.
The numbered map
Use the number on each district marker with the tables that follow. Numbers 1-10 are Kashmir division (blue), 11-20 Jammu division (orange) and 21-22 Ladakh (green).
