Planning and Development Packages
Planning
- Planned development began with the First Five-Year Plan (1951-56). Plans were financed mainly by Central grants.
- Since 2015 the Planning Commission has been replaced by NITI Aayog. The UT now prepares an annual capital expenditure (Capex) budget with a Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.
- Data come from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (J&K), which prepares the Economic Survey and the Digest of Statistics (the 50th edition for 2024-25).
Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) 2015
- Announced in Srinagar on 7 November 2015: about Rs 80,000 crore for J&K.
- Covers roads, power, health, education, flood control, tourism, skills and rehabilitation of migrants.
- Smart-meter, road, and rural projects are still reported under PMDP.
